- 1 Cup Demerara Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1 Tsp Gum Arabic Powder
- Few Drops Vodka Optional
- Optional Flavor Add-ins: Vanilla Bean, Orange Zest, Cinnamon Stick
In a small bowl or jar, dissolve gum arabic in ½ cup water. Let it rest for at least 2–4 hours or overnight.
Once fully dissolved, transfer to a saucepan and heat gently on low.
Add Demerara sugar and stir until fully dissolved, forming a thick syrup.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Optional: Add a few drops of vodka as a natural preservative.
Pour the syrup into a clean, sterilized glass bottle or jar.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 weeks (or 6–8 weeks with vodka).
Shake well before each use, especially if it thickens over time.
